The Truth About White Women

Most of us did the right thing in 2016.

Trump claimed he won 52% of white women in 2016. I know this will shock you, but that’s a lie.

“Trump won 35% of college-educated white women and 56% of white women without college degrees.” https://time.com/5422644/trump-white-women-2016/

It’s much easier to blame white women than Russian interference, or white men. Obviously white women cozying up to the patriarchy is a huge and not new problem. What WAS new in 2016 was the active meddling by a hostile foreign power.

The 65% of college educated and 44% of non-college white women who tried to stop this shitstorm are having their very real anguish erased, mocked, recast as complicity.

I phone banked and canvassed for HRC, but beginning on the morning of Nov. 9, 2016 and continuing right up to this moment, I became the villain. I also don’t give too many fucks who thinks I am, because it won’t stop me from voting blue and working my ass off to fix this nightmare which I am unlikely to see the end of.

But it hurts, because I lost my entire family of origin and countless friends/ professional relationships over 2016. My suffering is not deeper than anyone else’s, and not nearly as bad as other marginalized people’s, but it is very real, and sharper every day.

I don’t hear people blaming Putin, or even white men, with as much gleeful ferocity as they do my voting bloc. There are plenty of WW who enthusiastically uphold the patriarchy, but those are not the majority among the college-educated demographic.

Just wanted to say that.

Vote blue in the fucking midterms.
